New Collection of Copper Lustreware Pitchers

The Nabb Center recently received a new collection of Copper Lustreware pitchers.

Copper Lustreware is a glazed surface that has been painted with copper oxides and then refired at a low temperature to create the iridescent look.

It first became popular in England in the 19th century, primarily because of it’s resemblance to gold.In the home, Copper Lustreware was often displayed because it created an illusion of wealth.
