Haunted Eastern Shore

Haunted Eastern Shore is a collection of ghost stories and legends from the Eastern Shore. Written and researched by Mindie Burgoyne, the collection includes interviews from Eastern Shore residents, historical backgrounds, and images.

The sun sets over the DeCoursey Bridge in Cambridge, Maryland. This site is supposedly haunted by Big Lizz, an Eastern Shore slave and Union spy during the Civil War. Her Confederate master killed her in the Green Briar swamp when he realized she was a Union scout. Legend says that she will appear to anyone who parks on the bridge at night, honks three times, flashes their headlights, and turns off their car.
