The Nabb Research Center honors Frederick Douglass
Continuing their celebration of Black History Month, the Nabb Research Center will honor Frederick Douglass on Tuesday February 21, 2012 with two special events.
First, there will be a discussion on the autobiography of Douglass at 3 p.m. at the Nabb Center Gallery. Leading the discussion will be Salisbury history professor Dr. Clara Small who will also speak of the life and times of Douglass as we honor one of the Eastern Shore’s most noble historical figures.
Later that day, there will be a performance by Master Motivational Story Speaker Bill Grimmette as he steps back in time as Douglass and will reenact his life. Grimmette has performed as Douglass at institutions like the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian. This event will begin at 7 p.m. and will be at the Wicomico Room at the Guerrieri University Center.
Both events are free of charge and the public is invited to attend.

Harriet Tubman’s Journeys: New Research and Fresh Interpretations of an American Icon
Last night at the Guerreri Center, there was a special presentation from Dr. Kate Clifford Larson on her studies of Harriet Tubman. Larson has been a scholar of Tubman’s for years and wrote her biography “Harriet Tubman, Bound for the Promised Land” in 2003. Larson has continued her studies on Tubman since then and discovered new information on one of the nation’s bravest heroes. It was an honor to have Larson share her discoveries with us.
